A study at Karbala University discusses the application of ISO (15189) in medical laboratories using Total Quality Management

A study at the Faculty of management and economics at Karbala University discussed the application of ISO (15189) in medical laboratories using Total Quality Management – a case study to diagnose the reality of medical laboratories affiliated to the Najaf Al-Ashraf health directorate.

The study submitted by the student Ammar Mohammed Hussein Al-Saffar came with the aim of diagnosing the reality of Total Quality Management in the medical laboratories affiliated to the Najaf health department to identify the gap between the reality of the current medical laboratories and the Total Quality Management System. the sample of the study included both the laboratory of the “public health department” and the” Najaf Teaching Hospital laboratory ” (German).

The study found that there is a knowledge gap between the normal quality of work and the Total Quality Management System in the application of the standard (ISO:15189:2012), while it recommended the dissemination and definition of what Total Quality Management is as an integrated system for the management of medical laboratories studied, the dissemination of the thought and culture of differentiation between the concept of work quality and the thought of quality management systems and motivation to adopt this philosophy in the management of medical laboratories in the laboratory of the Department of Public Health and the laboratory of Najaf Teaching Hospital (German), affiliated to the Najaf health department.
