Two researchers at the University of Karbala are able to partially diagnose two new plant viruses

The researchers, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdel-Jalil, and graduate student Muhammad Saadoun from the College of Agriculture at the University of Karbala, were able to fully diagnose and characterize two new viruses that infect trees: Cucumber vein yellowing virus (CVYV) and Cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus (CYSDV).

According to specialists, the benefit of the new discovery lies in contributing to clarifying the full picture of all viruses, and working to devise varieties that are resistant to them and choosing the best methods to overcome them.

It is noteworthy that the diagnosis, which is the first in the country, was documented in the gene bank of the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
