Discussion Sessions and Memorandum Signing: Highlights of the Second Day of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week

The activities of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, continued in the holy city of Karbala, with the participation of from Iraq and Iran.

The second day featured discussion sessions addressing various topics, including student and faculty exchange programs between universities in both countries, scientific advancements, major challenges faced by Iraqi students studying in Iran, and proposed solutions. The sessions also discussed the establishment of new universities.

Additionally, the second day’s activities included the signing of 100 memorandums of understanding between Iraqi and Iranian universities. These agreements aim to enhance scientific exchange across diverse academic and technological fields, organize joint training programs for students and faculty, share academic expertise in research, and foster collaboration in modern technology and innovation. Particular focus was given to the practical applications of technology and the establishment of science and technology parks within Iraqi universities.

The universities also agreed to execute joint research projects, promote collaboration in co-supervision of academic research, update curricula, and exchange scholarship opportunities.

The participating delegations concluded the second day’s activities with visits to Al-Ameed University and the University of Karbala, where they were briefed on the colleges, departments, scientific facilities, and infrastructure of both institutions.

The delegations also toured the Scientific Achievements Exhibition, organized by the University of Karbala at the College of Education for Pure Sciences. Participants viewed various scientific projects displayed at the exhibition, reflecting the expertise and scientific capabilities of the university’s students and faculty.
