The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Karbala organized a symposium on electronic extortion in cooperation with the provincial police command, in the presence of university employees and a large number of college students. The symposium included the definition of electronic crime and the mechanisms of precaution against electronic blackmail practiced by the weak of souls. The symposium witnessed the implementation of some steps that raise the level of information security for users of social networking sites and provide protection for user accounts against hacking. Professors specializing in information security from the Information Technology Department of the Intelligence Agency in Karbala attended the symposium, as well as some representatives of civil society organizations concerned with defending women’s rights, including Women for Justice.
