Discussing a master’s thesis at the University of Karbala Protecting Human Dignity in International Humanitarian Law

The Faculty of Law at the University of Karbala discussed the master’s thesis tagged (Protection of Human Dignity in International Humanitarian Law), the thesis submitted by student Mustafa Hassan Hilal.

The study aimed to know the lofty status of human dignity, and its connection to human rights, not only in times of peace, but also during armed conflicts. The letter touched on the concept of human dignity, as it gives a higher value to the human being and preserves the prestige of humanity. the letter indicated that the law of armed conflict, in both its customary and conventional parts, did not stop at protecting the dignity of civilians or prisoners and the like, but rather extended to include the bodies of the dead and the dead with the need to respect them. It also contained protection for certain groups that were specific to some rules and not others. like women and children; Because of their privacy during the conflict, pay more attention to them. We also found, through the study, an examination of the international guarantees for its protection, and we found in them shortcomings that indicate the need for more care and the provision of ways to provide protection for dignity in its special capacity, and to protect its manifestations in general.
