“The Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs attended a scientific seminar on the Iraqi cultural heritage and the challenges it faces, organized by the College of Education for Human Sciences. The seminar was attended by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajed Ali, his administrative assistant, Professor Dr. Jassim Al-Maamouri, and a number of deans of faculties and lecturers.
The seminar, which was presented by Dr. St. John Simpson, the Keeper of the Middle Eastern Antiquities at the British Museum, and Dr. Abbas Ali Al-Husseini from the University of Al-Qadisiyyah, discussed the historical and economic significance of the Kabeeba archaeological site in Dhi Qar Governorate, and the lifestyle of its inhabitants thousands of years ago.
The other part of the seminar reviewed the ancient names of the holy city of Karbala throughout the ages, as well as the ancient trade exchanges and religious rituals practiced there.”
